In a group training, whether live or online, the main topics of the curriculum are defined by me and I offer use cases to work on. That is the biggest difference with a personalized training. However, even in group training I will invite the trainees to become involved in the flow of the training, the schedule is flexible and not only projects are 'responsive'! To make this possible, the size of the group will be limited to 12 trainees for a class training, and to 6 trainees for an online training. Here is short overview of a basic and a more advanced Training:

If you want to see a more elaborate curriculum, please use the contact form to request it.

Basic Training

This training will focus on the three challenges for Captivate newbies as explained in this blog post: Challenges for Starters. While working on projects you will discover the ins and outs of the Timeline, which is Captivate's feature that allows you to add interactivity to your courses. You'll start with a software simulation project, which you'll convert to a 'Show, Try, Test' project, to discover interactive and static objects. Inserting audio, video, animations and the impact of pausing points will be revealed. Quizzing (including Drag&Drop) is the second challenge: what is the design in Captivate, how to report to a LMS and using extended features. Last but not least: what is the impact  of Themes and Theme color palettes to set up a course using the company design rules (and using Typekit). Both responsive and non-responsive projects will be introduced. And you'll get a taste of extended features by using variables and some shared actions (script templates).

Advanced Training

A self-assessment will be provided for this advanced training, in order to be comfortable with the required  skill level. More personal 'homework' will be expected from the trainees in between sessions. Around 15 possible use cases are provided, some of them will be demonstrated, discussed in the sessions, other projects will be worked out on a personal basis. An individual  follow-up session is included in this training, to be scheduled within a month after the end of the training.

This training will explore in depth the following topics: editing/creating Themes for responsive and normal projects, labeling discipline (also for filtering), using internal and external libraries, power of multistate objects and Drag&Drop, using variables (in-depth exploration), practical workflow for design and choice between advanced and shared actions (multiple common workflows),  when to use JavaScript, troubleshooting.
